PRESERVE OUR RURAL NEIGHBORHOODS
Welcome Friends & Neighbors
OFLAND Resort is a proposed luxury cabin hotel development in the Indian Cove neighborhood of Twentynine Palms CA. Say No to Ofland is a group of Twentynine Palms residents who support growth in the City. We also believe that development should follow a coherent plan and serve the City’s residents. We don’t want this high desert community’s way of life shattered for profit by a national corporation with no links to the Mojave desert–a corporation that has succeeded in building just one small-scale resort in Escalante, Utah.
We are not anti-development. We are Pro 29.
Why Say No to Ofland?
- Residential zoning is for homes, not resorts.
- A luxury resort doesn’t belong in the heart of a residential desert neighborhood.
- Ofland Hotel proposes a 100-room resort with pools, a spa, and event spaces on 152 acres of mostly untouched desert—in vital wildlife habitat, directly next to homes and the boundary with Joshua Tree National Park in Twentynine Palms. The site is home to endangered species like the Mojave desert tortoise and may hold cultural significance for Indigenous tribes.
Protect the Land
- The developers are requesting a zoning change from Rural Residential to Tourist Commercial, setting a dangerous precedent for speculative development at the expense of our community’s character and environment.
- Locals weren’t meaningfully consulted. Indigenous voices haven’t been heard. And the City plans to approve the project without a full Environmental Impact Report.
We say: protect the land, respect the culture, and put community first.
